The Global Jet Watch Observatories

The Global Jet Watch project consists of five observatories strategically distributed in longitude around Planet Earth, such that there is always one of these in darkness. Optical astronomy has to be done at night! Click on an observatory to find out more:

GJW-CL

Our our observatory in Chile is a clear and dry site, far north of Santiago.

GJW-SA

Our Global Jet Watch observatory in South Africa sees beautiful African skies.

GJW-IN

GJW-IN is our only observatory in the northern hemisphere, at +12 degrees above the equator.

GJW-WA

Our fifth observatory was commissioned during 2014, and was made possible by a very generous donation from Derek Benham of New York.

GJW-OZ

This was the first of our observatories to be commissioned, and so has one of the original RCOS telescopes.

GJW-HQ

The headquarters of the Global Jet Watch observatories is in the University of Oxford, UK.
